Dr. Purnendu Bikash Sarkar is a renowned Ophthalmologist and director of the Salt Lake Eye Foundation. In his long career, Dr. Sarkar performed over one lakh cataract Phacosurgery and treated innumerable patients suffering from various eye ailments. Dr. Sarkar loves to conduct eye camps, seminars, workshops, etc. to make people aware of various eye diseases. He has published numerous books and articles on the subject in peer-reviewed journals. Some of them are Chokher Katha, Chasmar Handbook, 101 Questions of Cataract Surgery.

In addition to being a busy ophthalmologist, Dr. Sarkar has digitally compiled all songs and poems penned by Rabindra Nath Tagore, in two wonderful interactive software programs, Gitabitan Archive and Rabindra Kobita Archive. His published books on Tagore are Gitabitan Tathyabhandar, Dinguli Tanr, Ruper Arale, etc.

Dr. Sarkar enjoys reading books and listening to music in his spare time.
