Rekha Mohanty is an alumnus of SCB Medical College, Cuttack, Odisha of 1970-75 batch. Before joining Indian Army, she served in State of Himachal Pradesh Government and Para military Assam Rifles in North East Frontier. She participated in OP VIJAY (Kargil war) in 1999 and OP PARAKRAM (Desert war exercise) in 2000. After superannuation, she served for more than ten years in Ex-Servicemen Polyclinic under Ministry of Defence in Uttar Pradesh.

She is an astute leader and strives for justice for the underprivileged. She is an avid animal and nature lover, travel enthusiast, philanthropist and a die-hard patriot. Her writing extensively brings out to the forefront a deep philosophical and spiritual truth distilled in concise poetry. Presently she is working in a hospital in pursuit of service to ailing population.
