Dr. Bindu Sahni, is M.A., M. Phil and Ph. D. (Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi). Her broader area of research is Tribal Studies and Environmental History. In her Doctoral thesis she has worked on “Identity Formation Among the Gujjars of Himachal Pradesh: Encounters and Challenges in Colonial Period.” She has worked on Gujjar community of Himachal Pradesh. Presently she is a fellow in Indian Institute of Advance Study, Shimla.

She has been the recipient of a number of Fellowships − Post Doctorate Fellowship from Indian Council of Historical Research, Post Doctoral Fellowship from Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and awarded Junior Fellowship from Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML).  

She has published a number of papers in the Proceedings of Indian History Congress and in the Proceedings of Punjab History Congress. She has also published a paper in the Journal of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla (Himalayan Journal). She has also published in the International Journal of Social Sciences published online.
