This book is a study of some women writers who have chosen writing as a liberating tool, a subversive strategy and an artistic mode of expression. These writers challenged the cultural representation of gender, the gendered social contexts, and the cultural policing of women’s bodies. They recognize the fragmented nature of women’s identity. Their texts re-define literary historiography and engage with issues of visibility and invisibility, hegemony, marginalization, articulation, and silence.
