In this delightful collection of stories set against the backdrop of present-day Guwahati, the capital city of Assam and the gateway to northeastern India, the author has created entertaining themes that encompass a wide variety of situations and human behaviour.

The reader will be drawn, through easy descriptive language, into a motley world of romance, crime, cuisines, cars, corporates, doctors, party-goers and ambitious youngsters, all intrinsically involved in the pursuit of life’s needs and pleasures.

To play out these well-crafted, intriguing plots that illustrate human desires and frailties, the author has put in place an amazing array of characters, which, along with his recourse to detail, and construction of believable scenarios interspersed with moments of surprise, suspense, twists and turns, are bound to hold the reader’s unbroken interest.

Across all age groups, this gathering of human interest stories promises many hours of reading pleasure.

Jayant Nobis

Born in Jamshedpur in 1945, Jayant Nobis grew up in schools run by Irish nuns, Anglican schoolmasters and American Jesuit priests. A good part of his early, impressionable, boyhood years were spent in the West Bengal heartland, that helped ingrain in him a close appreciation of Bengali lifestyle and culture which are elaborately reflected in this book. After his circuitous schooling he went on to graduate in Civil and Municipal Engineering from the Benares Hindu University.
