Cities in the Global South face compounded climate risks amid rapid urbanisation, limited adaptive capacity, and deep socio-economic inequalities. This book moves beyond existing research, which has typically examined individual sectors such as transport, buildings, water, or disaster risk by adopting a holistic, systems-based perspective. It explores the complex interactions between climate extremes and urban form, infrastructure, human behaviour, and governance. The volume presents an interdisciplinary synthesis grounded in empirical evidence from multiple cities. It integrates advanced analytical tools including remote sensing, GIS, artificial intelligence, and decision analysis with social and policy perspectives, thereby offering a comprehensive framework for understanding and addressing urban climate challenges. By foregrounding equity and inclusivity, the volume makes a timely and distinctive scholarly contribution to the advancement of climate-resilient urban policy and planning frameworks.
