My maiden book is a collection of 12 short stories and 9 poems, all capturing the charm of a simple life where small joys like reading, listening, and heartfelt relationships were treasured. Many pieces are inspired by real characters and childhood memories—such as Daana Bhati, a social gathering place for children. Stories like Dove and Nova encourage resilience, Tiger and Tribal emphasizes forest conservation, while Eternal Fire pays homage to the source of life. Poems like Mother and Longing express deep maternal love, while works such as Nand Panditji, Lakha Singh, and Pandit Family reveal humor in unexpected moments. Others, including Stationery Store, Ram aur Shyam, Bakery, Breeze in Afternoon, Post Office, and Amma, nostalgically recall a time when children found delight in everything under the secure care of elders. Bliss emerged from the song of a robin, while Planets and Agastya have been written for my grandsons. Finally, FMN is a heartfelt tribute to true lovers of the past.

The author, 64, a native of Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, is a B.E. (Civil) by qualification and retired as an RTS Revenue Officer. He considers himself more of a storyteller than a writer, weaving his tales and poems during the quiet hours of dawn. As he fondly says, “At wee hours of the morning, when the mind sleeps and the heart is awake, I and my characters are on the same page, talking to each other like children do. What they tell becomes my stories and poems.”
