It is an immense pleasure to publish this book's "First Edition", which will be helpful to Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry for the B. Pharm 4th semester students. This text book covers the new syllabus of the B. Pharm course in Pharmacy as prescribed in the "Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) course regulations 2014 by the Pharmacy Council of India (P.C.I). The subject matter in this book is explained in very simple language and in a clear and concise form, which will help the students to have a clear-cut understanding of the subject. In the current text, the concepts of pharmacognosy and phytochemistry are presented simply and systematically, which is beneficial for pharmacognosy on multiple levels. This book was created because undergraduate students needed an introduction to pharmacognosy. I sincerely hope that this textbook will become very useful to students and teachers of pharmacy. Vijay Kumar Yadav

Dr. Vijay Kumar Yadav is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, U.P. He has completed B.Pharm and M.Pharm from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, in the years 2008 and 2010 respectively. He has completed a Ph.D. in Pharmacy. He has 12 years of teaching experience in B.Pharm and M.Pharm. His research interests include various analytical techniques, pharmaceutical biochemistry, natural product chemistry, and pharmacognosy. He has attended and presented research papers at various national and international conferences. He has published 30 research and five review articles in reputed national and international journals and authored 4 books. One book chapter got published. He is a reviewer for various journals and an examiner of government and deemed universities. He has got five patents. He is an expert member of various statutory bodies as an expert member of approval of D. Pharm and Pharm D courses by the Board of Technical Education, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh 2019.

Vimal Kumar Yadav

Dr. Vimal Kumar Yadav has completed his B.Pharm from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi (U.P) and his M. Pharm (Pharmaceutics) from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi(U.P). He has completed his Ph.D. from IFTM University, Moradabad (U.P). He has gained more than 12 years of teaching in the department of pharmaceutics at both UG and PG levels and also has experience in research and GATE qualified in 2007. He has published a number of research articles, reviews, books and chapters at national and international level in reputed journals. He also has an editorial board, reviewers, and an association of pharmacy professional membership. Currently, he is working as an Asst. Professor in the Institute of Pharmacy, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Avadh University, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Raghuveer Irchhiaya

Dr. Raghuveer Irchhiaya has completed his B. Pharm from Dr. H.S. Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (M.P.) and his M. Pharm (Pharmacognosy) from Dr. H.S. Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (M.P.) in Pharmacognosy under the guidance of Prof. V.K. Dixit (Department of Pharmaceutical Science). He received his Ph.D. from Bundelkhand University in Jhansi in 2006 and qualified for the GATE in 1999. He has published a number of research (120), reviews, books, and chapters at national and international level in reputed journals. Since September 4, he is the director of the Institute of Pharmacy at Bundelkhand University in Jhansi. He is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Pharmacy, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi.

Pushpendra Kumar

Dr. Pushpendra Kumar has completed his B. Pharm from the U.P Technical University, Lucknow and his M. Pharm (Pharmacology) from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. He has a Ph.D. degree in pharmacy. He has short-term training experience at AIIMS Delhi. He has gained more than 15 years of teaching experience in the Department of Pharmacology and has published a number of research and review papers in reputed journals. He has also had membership on the board of study and People for Animals. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai Etawah, UP.
